One day on the train, I realized that my memory is almost totally dependent on the place I happen to be at the time. To the point that once I got on the train to go home, I forgot, at least for that ride, almost everything that had happened since I got off it in the morning. Even worse, when I got on in the morning, I forgot most of what had happened since I got home the previous night.
